Any suggestions for under bed storage?

Get some good suggestions for organizing under you bed.

There are countless possibilities for under bed storage. All of them depend on two things: first, the space must be clean and dry to be really useful as storage. Second, there must be enough room to use the space for storage: At the very least, the mattress and box spring need to be on a bed frame that allows some clearance. It is also possible to lift the bed further, either on blocks or extension legs made for the purpose. Some people even decide to build a small loft for the bed in order to have all the space beneath it for furnishings and storage! Assuming modest to about a foot and a half clearance, several forms of storage are most apparent. To decide how to proceed, decide what it is that should be stored here, and how frequently it needs to be accessed. Shallow plastic bins with snap-on covers are ideal for anything that should be kept clean and dust-free, but the covers requiring pulling the bins all the way out from under the bed each time access is needed. They are available with wheels if that is helpful. Rolling wire racks are available and are great for shoes, athletic equipment, and other items that are used more frequently. Insert a solid liner – cardboard works, thin plywood or foam core are better, to use these racks for books or other items that could fall through the open wire. More permanent storage can be designed as wooden drawers. These can be purchases, or designed with drawer hardware and facing that compliments the room’s décor. It is also easy to build a tray to pull in and out of the space – Build a two-by-four rectangle with a plywood deck, and add casters. A rope or other handle makes this easy to move.
